The "Shield" Unbeatable in Knights Victory

This "K"night belonged to the Knights as they prevailed in this defensive battle with the Goal Diggers. Both teams played the game with a short bench as many balanced their options... head to the field to play lacrosse or... stay at home, have a bevy or two and watch the NFL playoffs?

Those in attendance played their asses off! The Knights started with two quick goals by Chase Jaeger and Adam Golia before the 'Diggers Brennan Cullen would bury two of his own to tie the game. Riley Condon then put the Goal Diggers ahead with just under 3 minutes to play in the quarter but that was enough time for Zac Christianson (1:22) and Jaeger (:30) to score and retake the Knights lead heading into intermission. Both defenses were stingy as the 2nd quarter was another longpole and goaltender battle with the Knights Cole Christiaens and Adam Golia finding twine halfway through the frame while the 'Diggers Rees Cullen was the only bikini clad bad-ass to find the back of the net. Both Brett Savory and Doug White shared the duties in goal for the Goal Diggers but both were amazed by Will "the Shield" Chiasson as he seemed almost impenetrable on the night. Halftime score was 6-4.

The Knights Parker Johnson scored two minutes into the 3rd followed by a Christiaens goal at 9:50. The 'Diggers followed those up with a goal by Colten Merilainen to try to close the gap but Brenden Harstad scored to restore the four goal lead heading into the last quarter. As mentioned earlier, this night belonged to the 'keepers with each team scoring only one more goal each (Knights - Christiaens and 'Diggers Sorensen). Both teams played phenomenal even with short benches on the night. Final: Knights 10 - Goal Diggers 6.

The evening game of the weekend double header saw the rising Phantom play host to the Plugs. The Phantom controlled the ball early in the quarter but just couldn't seem to find twine behind the Plugs 'keeper Alex Pocetti. About one third of the way through the frame, the Plugs Ryan Lewis used his speed and from his own restraining line, weaved and dodged his way through the Phantom defense the score and take a 1-0 lead. The Phantom replied with a goal by Connor Rant off a stack and then in the dying seconds of the quarter, Parker Teufel buried a low bouncer to give the Phantom a 2-1 intermission lead.

Coming off a great first quarter, the Phantom then couldn't solve the Plugs defence and they were held pointless in the 2nd quarter while the Plugs hammered away at the Phantoms' goalie T.J. Prokop. The Plugs buried five in the frame (Steve Higgs (2), Patrick McMillan, Brodie Wade and Jake Emms) to give the "Favourite Logo Design" contest winners the 6-2 lead at half.

Tacho Garcia got his first goal of the season to open the 2nd half but the Plugs rained on his parade and scored two in a row (Wade & James Spence) before the Phantoms' Brennan Stothers split the "D" with lightning fast footspeed and picked up the preverbal junk out front and scored his first as a Phantom. The Plugs regained some electricity and went on a tare for the remainder of the quarter with goals by Spence, Emms, Wade, and Lewis to head into the fourth quarter with an eight goal lead.

To their unwavering credit, the Phantom would not lie down and give up. The final quarter saw the Plugs outscore the Phantom 4-3 (Plugs: Spence, Casey, Wade and Emms) while for the Phantom it was (Sawyer (2), and Teufel).
