GOUDY FIELD HOSTS WEEK #9

TAKEN FOR GRANTED?... Not any longer! If you have been following the Victoria Field Lacrosse League since our inception, you would have thought coming in to the 2023/2024 season that the Phantom were an easy 2 points. Now we're eight weeks into the season and the Phantom have turned some heads, scared some teams and even put some eerie spells on some teams and players as they have risen from the ashes, collected a "W" and now are dramatically closing the gap with their opponents. Case in point, only losing this game against the 1st place Plugs by a score of 12-7 bodes well for the competition sometimes called the apparition.

In a league that expands by 2 teams, you wouldn't expect the expansion teams to do all that well in year number one. Well, the Turf Monsters are breaking that mold. After winning the first quarter by two, the Turf Monsters then gave the Knights the second quarter by three goals. Then fought back and won the third quarter by three and then the Knights took back the fourth and won by two. All in all, in the end, we had a tie game at 11's and the crowd was thoroughly entertained during this match.

Home field advantage didn't come into fruition this night as the Chill (repping the hood of Langford) couldn't string together enough passes or loose balls on this night in front of their home crowd at Goudy Field. After falling behind quickly, early in the game, there was no recovery for the Chill. They did come out with a positive 3rd quarter, defeating the 'Diggers 2-1 but it wasn't enough on this night.
