Four Teams Enter Inaugural Season

After over 15 years, the Victoria Field Lacrosse League has returned. Much like its counterpart (the Canada West Field Lacrosse League in Vancouver), the resurrection of field lacrosse in Victoria marks the new beginning of lacrosse for players in Victoria after they've played youth field lacrosse.

The VFLL was created for Under 18 players on the Island due to a decrease in youth registration and larger participation of players in academies; as well as for adult players whom have the desire to play in a recreational yet semi-competitive setting; to create a league consisting of 4 teams to start (including a VIFLL U18 and UVIC club players) to promote the field game and to resurrect the Men's League that was once "the" place to play, have fun and provide an environment where families could come and watch and be entertained.

Players involved in this inaugural season have a wide range of skill levels and range in age between 17 & 50 plus. Captains were selected based on commitment, interest and player knowledge; Devon Casey captains the "Plugs", Guy Cullen leads his "yet to be nicknamed squad", Cole Christiaens directs the "Knights" and Bob Gallagher and Charles Claxton head up the Phantom.

The first game of the season saw the Plugs defeat Team Cullen by the score of 15-9. This Sunday's game will have Team Cullen hosting the Knights before games expand each Sunday to all four teams playing every weekend.

Everyone is welcome to watch and admission is free!
