DIGGERS STUN OPPOSITION - FINISH IN LEAGUE LEAD
The Goal Diggers non-saliently kept within grasp of the league leading Plugs and Knights all season and then ended the season on a 7 game winning streak and defeated the top 2 teams to secure top spot in league standings leading up to this weekends' Victoria Field Lacrosse League's Championship Weekend!
The league welcomed 2 new teams this season; the Chill and the Turf Monsters. Expanding to 6 teams afforded more players the ability to grow the game of field lacrosse in Victoria and surrounding areas and resurrect a league that had closed shop with the emergence of the National Lacrosse League. The players in the league are 19 years of age all the way to 60+, many former NLL and Shamrock players are in the league this season.
This weekend will see the 1st Place Goal Diggers face the 4th Place Turf Monsters at 12pm on Saturday March 16th at UVIC's field 2B. The 2pm game will showcase the 2nd Place Knights vs. the 3rd Place Plugs; with the two winners playing at 12pm on Sunday March 17th on UVIC's field #3 for the VFLL Championship Shield.
Championship Sunday will have music, a game announcer, halftime festivities and a souvenir table to snatch up toques, hoodies and league t-shirts.
Weather has been great to us this season... why not close it out with a party! Come on out lacrosse fans and catch the last field lacrosse action of the VFLL season.
