ANY GIVEN WEEKEND... WEEK #6

When you start and end strong, good things happen! The Goal Diggers scored 5 goals in the 1st and 4th quarters as they brought their "A" game this night and upset the current league leading Plugs (14-7). The Plugs fought hard and were without the services of their top midfielder and their top attack (apparently he was playing soccer) - the team spokesman has stated that fines will be levied. ;)

Youth lacrosse for years has had players missing due to recruiting tournaments or club activities and it is certainly spilling over into the VFLL as well. The home Chill were again missing players due to academy games with Claremont and Royal Bay as they attended the PCL tournament. The short-staffed Chill pulled off some close quarters (2nd, 3rd & 4th) but the 1st was the ice-breaker as the Chill fell to the Knights in the second game of the Saturday evening.

The Phantom started strong and put a bit of a scare in the Turf Monsters in the first half of their Sunday evening game as the score was 2-2 after the 1st, 6-4 TM's after the 2nd but it was the 2nd half of the game that proved pivotal as the Turf Monsters were led offensively by Cordero (5 goals), Kelly (4 goals) and defensively by Mat Tytgat as the 2 goal performances by Josh Burman and Noah Holler were not quite enough to close the gap. (13-6 Turf Monsters).
